Family Care Homes:

Supervised Living Group Homes are often confused with Family Care homes. A Family Care Home provides 24-hour residential services to individuals in a home environment.   Family Care Homes are “ Adult Care Homes” that provide care to two to six residents living in a residence in which the housing management  provides 24 hour scheduled and unscheduled care and services. Family Care Homes are also licensed by the Division of Health Service Regulation.

Nursing Home:

A nursing home is considered a higher level of care than an Adult Care Home. Residents living in a nursing home have a higher level of medical needs than cannot be met in an Adult Care Home. Nursing homes provide 24 hour medical care as well as personal and health care assistance (bathing, dressing, grooming), medication administration, meal preparation, transportation and activities, as well as housekeeping and laundry.
